Cross-Location Ordering allows customers to add products from multiple store locations into a single cart. This feature is useful for stores offering centralized shipping, mixed-origin fulfillment, or multi-warehouse logistics.
How to Access
To configure this feature:
- Go to Location Manage →Settings→Order & Cart
- Find Cross-Location Order Management
1) Allow Mixed Location Cart (On/Off)
Allows or blocks customers from adding products from different locations into the same cart
Options
- On: Customers can add items from multiple locations in one cart.
- Off: Customers can only keep items from one location in the cart at a time.
How it works
- On
- The cart can contain products from Location A and Location B together.
- The order may require fulfillment from multiple locations (depending on your fulfillment rules).
- Off
- When a customer tries to add a product from a different location, the store will prevent mixing locations.
- What happens next depends on your store flow (example: ask to switch location or keep the current cart as-is).
2) Group Cart Items by Location (On/Off)
Controls how cart items are displayed when items belong to different locations.
Options
- On: Cart items are grouped under each location name.
- Off: Cart items show in a normal list (not separated by location).
How it works
- On
- Customers see clear sections like:
- Dhaka Warehouse: Product A, Product C
- Chattogram Store: Product B
- Customers see clear sections like:
- Off
- Customers see a single list of items.
- Location details may still appear, but items are not grouped.
Note
This setting is most useful when Allow Mixed Location Cart is On.
Recommended Configuration
If you want customers to buy from multiple locations in one order
- Allow Mixed Location Cart: On
- Group Cart Items by Location: On
This keeps the cart clear and reduces confusion.
If you want one location per order (simpler packing and shipping)
- Allow Mixed Location Cart: Off
- Group Cart Items by Location: Optional
Grouping will matter less because mixing locations is blocked.
Quick Reference Table
| Setting | Option | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Allow Mixed Location Cart | On | Customers can add products from different locations to the same cart |
| Allow Mixed Location Cart | Off | Customers must keep cart items from one location only |
| Group Cart Items by Location | On | Cart shows items grouped by location |
| Group Cart Items by Location | Off | Cart shows items in one list |
Common Notes
Grouping cart items by location helps customers understand where items are coming from before checkout.
If mixed location carts are allowed, your fulfillment setup should support handling items from multiple locations.
