Allow Cross-Location Ordering

Cross-Location Ordering allows customers to add products from multiple store locations into a single cart. This feature is useful for stores offering centralized shipping, mixed-origin fulfillment, or multi-warehouse logistics.

How to Enable Cross-Location Ordering

To configure this feature:

  1. Go to Location Manage → Order & Cart
  2. Find the Cross-Location Order Management panel
  3. Enable the following option:

Allow Mixed-Location Cart — On/Off

  • ON
Customers can add products from different locations to the same cart.
This means a user can shop from multiple warehouses or stores without restrictions.
  • OFF
Cart is restricted to a single location.
When a customer attempts to add a product from a different location, they may be prompted to switch locations or clear their cart.

When to Enable Mixed-Location Carts

Enable this if:

✔ You fulfill orders from a central warehouse
✔ You combine products from different locations for a single shipment
✔ You drop-ship or route items from multiple inventory hubs
✔ You want a more flexible shopping experience for customers

When to Disable Mixed-Location Carts

Disable this if:

✔ Each order must be fulfilled by a single location
✔ You want location-based shipping or pickup rules enforced
✔ You need precise stock/inventory tracking per location
✔ Your business model uses store-specific fulfillment (e.g., pickup only)

How Cross-Location Ordering Works on the Frontend

  • Users select a location as usual
  • When they add a product from another location:
    • If the feature is enabled, the product is added normally
    • If disabled, the system prevents it or asks to switch location
  • Checkout can include products from multiple origins

Best Practices

  • Enable if your fulfillment system can handle multi-location logistics
  • Disable for strict store-based or pickup-only stores
  • Test the checkout flow after enabling
  • Combine with location-based shipping methods for best results

With Cross-Location Ordering, you gain full flexibility in how customers build their carts, allowing you to support both simple and advanced multi-warehouse ordering workflows.
