In this mode, orders are assigned to the location explicitly selected by the customer during checkout. The selected location becomes the fulfillment source for the entire order.
How to Access
To configure this feature:
- Go to Location Manage →Settings→Order & Cart
- Find Order Fulfillment
- Then, from Order Assignment method, choose Customer Selection
How It Works:
- A location selector is displayed on the storefront or checkout page.
- The customer chooses their preferred store or warehouse.
- Once the order is placed, it is immediately linked to the selected location.
- Inventory is deducted only from the chosen location.
- Order notifications are sent according to the configured notification recipients.
Behavior When No Location Is Selected:
- If the customer does not select a location, the system applies the default fallback behavior defined in the plugin settings.
- Depending on the configuration, the order may be auto-assigned, placed on hold, or require manual intervention.
Advantages:
- Gives customers full control over fulfillment location.
- Prevents confusion for in-store pickup and local delivery.
- Ensures accurate location-based stock management.
- Reduces post-order reassignment by admins.
Limitations:
- Requires customers to actively select a location.
- Not suitable if customers should not see or choose fulfillment locations.
Best For:
- Click & Collect workflows
- Store pickup models
- Customer-preferred fulfillment scenarios
- Businesses with multiple physical outlets
