How to Write Prompts Buyers Really Ask

The best prompts are the questions a buyer types into ChatGPT before choosing a product or company like yours.

Patterns that work

  • “Best … for …”: Best accounting software for online stores
  • “Which … should I …”: Which invoicing app should a freelancer use?
  • “… vs …”: Tallyleaf vs Ledgerly for sales tax
  • “Is … legit / safe / worth it?”: Is Tallyleaf safe to use?
  • Price and location: Cheapest bookkeeping software with bank sync

How many

Start with 5 to 10, mostly discovery prompts. Add more when you see which topics matter. Each prompt costs one API call per service per run.

Common mistakes

  • Your brand name in a discovery prompt. AI will almost always mention you then, so the result says nothing.
  • Too general. “Best software” gets lists of famous brands. Add who it is for and what it does.
  • Keyword style. Write a full question, the way a person talks to ChatGPT.
